Quality control in all steel structure manufacturing activities

At all steel structure production activities at the factory, our principle is “quality first”. Therefore, we always attach special importance to continuously controlling and improving product quality. Every employee is responsible for potential reasons and reports to management so that production runs continuously and smoothly.

In the production line, the output of this stage is the input finished product of the next stage. Therefore, every step is strictly checked by the quality control (QC) team according to international standards, applying the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. All inspection activities are conducted by skilled engineers certified by competent departments and branches.

Steel structure quality control process at Nam Long factory

The steel structure production process starts from input materials – processing includes cutting, punching, assembling, straightening, sealing, cleaning and painting – the finished product. Below, we will introduce the quality control steps in each stage.

CONTROL OF INPUT MATERIALS

Steel is the main material in the entire steel structure manufacturing process. Therefore, checking raw materials is an important step that needs to be done in detail. Inspection of raw steel includes many steps:

• Based on the supplier’s certificate of origin
• Observe the outside with the naked eye such as the symbols on the steel, whether the steel is warped, whether the surface is flat, the color of the steel
• Depending on customer requirements, raw steel materials will also be tested at third-party standard laboratories for specific technical parameters (composition, tensile strength…)

QUALITY CONTROL AT EACH STRUCTURAL PROCESSING STAGE

As mentioned above, after each stage is completed, the QC team will check the quality according to the standards (that the project applies) to ensure the finished product for the next step.

• The preparation stage of processing materials (sawing, cutting, milling, punching/punching…) will be checked by marking, visual inspection, and size check.
• Processing and assembling of components: Measure the size of details, holes, length and stamp the project name of each component; Check the mounting details and butt welds to ensure the assembly position is correct and has enough details
• The welding process will check the actual welding parameters, check with the naked eye and the measuring machine, and check the welder
• The cleaning and painting stage checks the type of abrasives, paints and solvents. Depending on project requirements, the structure will be painted in 3 to 5 layers. Some types of structures will be dipped in zinc instead of painted.

CHECK OUTPUT INGREDIENTS AND STORAGE

Quality control does not stop at completing the production process of the finished product. At Nam Long Steel Structure, we always ensure that goods arriving at the construction site must maintain the same quality as when they left the factory and be convenient for erection. Therefore, steel structures are stored in a dry environment, away from humid air and termites. Finished products are professionally packaged before being neatly arranged into containers or trucks for transport to the construction site.

After the inspection is complete, proceed with acceptance and storage in appropriate conditions. This ensures the quality of steel structures before installing steel structures in projects.
